About Us
Burdett's Custom Woodworks was incorporated in early 2017 by Michael Burdett Jr., a talented carpenter with a long background of woodworking experience. Mike started woodworking when he was 15, when he was lucky enough to be offered Woodworking classes in High School. Mike also learned 2D and 3D modeling at this time (Solidworks and AutoCad) and took seven different woodworking and drafting classes.
After high school he mentored under master carpenter and cabinet maker Bill Mooney of Mooney's Custom Woodworks, inc. in Amelia Island, Florida. Before starting his own business, Mike moved back to Cary, NC and was the lead carpenter/cabinetmaker for a few local carpentry companies who served the top custom home builders in the Triangle area- including two of the top three highest average cost per-home builders.
From 500sqft apartments, to 15,000+sqft homes, Burdett's Custom Woodworks, inc. provides the same craftsmanship, quality, and service expected from a professional. We specialize in lived-in/occupied residential home renovations and take job site cleanliness and site-prep very seriously. Proper floor protection, plastic wall systems, and floor coverings are used at all times, alongside HEPA filtered vacuums. We are fully insured, and our customer-friendly contract allows peace of mind during construction.
Burdett's Custom Woodworks specializes in Custom Cabinetry and Built-Ins, as well as staircases and handrails, and all other aspects of finish-carpentry. We also enjoy kitchen remodels, and can help with all aspects of the remodeling process- from design to paint. Challenging projects are made easy with proper planning, and over 15 years of experience in the trade. Please feel free to inquire about any project you feel we can help you with.
We are located in Cary, NC near Downtown Cary (by appointment only). We service the Triangle area, including; Cary, Apex, Raleigh, Chapel-Hill, Durham, Wake-Forest, Pittsboro, Fuquay, and Holly Springs. We occasionally travel further for work, so please make sure to include your address or approximate location when inquiring for an estimate.
"We" have said we a lot, however Burdett's Custom Woodworks currently has only one employee, Mike Burdett, who will work with you one-on-one throughout the whole process. There are no middle-men, supervisors disconnected from on-site situations, or workers who need to wait on approval from a superior- all aspects of the design, planning, and execution are done in-house through one person.

Mike with a bass-guitar he made from scratch in 2008 (around 17 years old). This instrument was presented to the WCPSS at a board meeting, by his former woodshop teacher, as one of only two pieces highlighting the importance of keeping woodworking in public schools. This bass still works great to this day, almost 15 years later!
(You know you are a true carpenter when your fashion style at the time was "glue companies"...)
